The UK’s most accurate mobile question and answer service celebrates 25 million answers on its 7th birthday
22 April 2011
63336, the UK's first and most accurate text question and answer service, today announces - on its 7th birthday - that it has answered 25 million questions from 2.4 million customers.
Whilst we sometimes get some fairly raunchy questions, our 25 millionth question couldn't be more squeaky clean: "What's in a Mickey Mouse?" 63336 answered with "A Mickey Mouse is a non-alcoholic cocktail: Carefully blend 1 can of Coke with 2 tbsp ice cream and top with 1 tbsp whipped cream. Finish with a cherry." Be careful about asking for a Mickey Mouse in a countryside pub, though, as you may not get what you want: in some regions the same term applies to a mix of half bitter, half lager. It's also not to be confused with a Mickey Finn: a spiked drink designed to incapacitate the drinker. Of course, if you wanted to Mickey Finn your own Mickey Mouse, a tot of rum would be a perfect match to the cola and ice cream.
So how did a fishy question spawn the UK's leading mobile question and answer service seven years ago? Founder Colly Myers was at a cricket match in 2004 doing a crossword (as you do) when he was stumped by the clue "Baby herring". He texted a friend and immediately got the answer: sild, which is an Old Norse word for herring. That simple act was what led to the formation of the 63336 service, or AQA (Any Question Answered) as it was formerly known. Myers instinctively knew that a Q&A text service would be a hit, and he was right: 7 years, 25 million questions, and 2.4 million customers is solid proof.
63336, launched in April 2004 and the world's first premium text based question and answer service, is designed to answer – in minutes – any question sent via premium text or from the 63336 mobile app. From the start it has led the market in providing the fastest, most accurate, and most entertaining way to get answers to any question: from trivial, to tricky, to downright troublesome. Answers are provided by a highly–skilled workforce of home-based researchers, 95% of whom reside in the UK. The service is available 24/7, even when you're abroad.
Since the launch of the 63336 mobile app, asking questions has never been easier. To download the 63336 app for free, point your mobile browser to http://63336.com/a. Customers may also follow the 63336 twitter feed @the63336.
